About The College

No academic institution in Northern California can match our breadth of artistic training – or alumni accomplishments. Talent nurtured at the College of Creative Arts has gone on to entertain, inspire and inform the public worldwide, and gathered not only Emmy, Oscar and Tony awards, but a good number of Drama Desk, Golden Globe, Grammy, Peabody and Theatre World awards, too.

Developing exceptional talent takes exceptional teachers, mentors and practitioners. The College of Creative Arts is home to such luminaries as art historian Whitney Chadwick, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Wayne Peterson, award-winning composers Ronald Caltabiano and Richard Festinger, Dunham Dance Scholar Albirda Rose, artists Lewis DeSoto, David Kuraoka and Mario Laplante, film scholars Bill Nichols and Joseph McBride, seminal media textbook author Stuart Hyde and documentarian John Hewitt, among others.

The working professionals who share expertise and wisdom with our students include quartet-in-residence the Alexander String Quartet, associate lighting director Joan Arhelger (designed more than 30 SF Opera productions), former Magic Theater artistic director Larry Eilenberg, industrial designer, airport security systems, Martin Linder, and KRON-TV's weekend morning news co-anchor Marty Gonzalez.

Celebrate art and artists with the College of Creative Arts. Join us for the annual Morrison Artists' Series, Film Finals and the International Irving M. Klein String Competition, and look to our calendar for main stage theatre productions, design and fine art exhibits, music and dance performances, and broadcast programming.
