Art professor introduces his co-editor at Chinese Cultural Center

Professor Mark Dean Johnson will introduce Gordon H. Chang at a free lecture at 1pm Oct. 10 at the Chinese Cultural Center in San Francisco.
Chang, a professor at Stanford University, will discuss Chinese American art. The lecture is presented in conjunction with with the Chinese Culture Center’s new exhibition, “Chromatic Constructions: Contemporary Fiber Art” by Dora Hsiung.
Chang and Johnson are co-editors of “Asian American Art: A History, 1850-1970” (Stanford University Press, 2008), the first comprehensive study of the lives and artistic production of active Asian artists in the U.S. before 1970.
Last year, Johnson was co-curator of a de Young Musuem exhibition, “Asian/American/Modern.” At SF State, he is an Art professor and director of the Fine Arts Gallery.
